What is the Episcopal Church?
Find out about the Episcopal Church and the history of this wonderful community on our What is the Episcopal Church page.
The word acolyte is derived from the Greek word acolytos, meaning companion, attendant, or helper. The Acolyte ministry has its roots in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, where the prophet Samuel is seen assisting Eli, the Levite priest, and Elisha is seen assisting Elijah the Prophet.
Acolyte is a general term that refers to servants of the liturgy including torchbearers, crucifers, thurifers, and banner-bearers. This is a ministry open to children and youth as well as adults.
Starting in the second grade, children who want to help serve during the service are welcome to contact Karle Honomichl about this ministry. Adults are also encouraged to join us in this ministry.
